Chillicothe Has Been Entered in a Contest

A Contest to help our town *by Steve Bart*
We at CI recently were sent an invite from Reader’s Digest to submit our city to a contest to win $25,000. The contest began last November 16 (2011). Nearby cities such as Fairbury have already won. We have attempted to contact that city, but have not received a response yet to verify the fact.
We went to the web-site to read about the contest and found that, overall, it seems legit. It is based on the number of votes and comments received on their website www.wehearyouamerica.readersdigest.com
There is also a place for photos to be posted and we posted one or two. Once on the site, you register with your email address (you will NOT receive any spam!), and then you can start voting. AND, you are able to vote multiple times during the day and anyone from out of state, or even the country are able to vote. So pass this on to all your friends, especially those that are former Chilli residents.
A few folks have already begun sharing comments and photographs. "Patricia P." submitted a nice idea as to what the city could use the money for. El Paso, Illinois is already trying to arrange a vote-a-thon to get more votes, perhaps this is an idea for us?
