After numerous driving accidents in and around Chilli, Chief Adcock would like our residents to remember a few basic safe driving tips. But before all that is mentioned, the Chief would like to know that if there are any elderly residents or those unable to drive, who need to have errands run or given a drive to somewhere, please do not hesitate to call the CPD and ask for assistance. 274-2129
Now for the driving tips -
First off, make sure your headlights are ON so that other traffic can clearly see you, so that you can see through the snow more easily, make sure your windsheilds are clear, both iside your vehicle and out,and it IS Illinois Law that if you are using your windshield wipers, you must have your headlights on.
If you do not need to go anywhere don't risk it.
Other tips & reminders - Drive slow! Headlights on! Do NOT slam on your breaks, you will loose traction and never regain it. Pump your brakes gently and make sure you keep a safe distance between yourself and the car in front. Slow down at all intersections, the worst thing you can do is speed up to make the light. Stay safe!!
