Chillicothe residents on hot online pursuit

Chilli-we-hear-u-america

As the deadline for the Reader’s Digest We Hear You America campaign nears it’s end, Chillicothe residents kick voting into high gear.
Recently, Willie Ohlman a 7th grader at Chillicothe Elementary Center generated many votes for the city. In a contest where citizens can enter as often and as many times as they like, Ohlman was able to generate 400 votes an hour. Judy Gajdik, owner of Printographi has also been burning up her keyboard.
This is all part of a five-month-long contest, in which towns, cities, and villages across the United States are encouraged to participate and could benefit from millions of dollars worth of promotion and financial support for community and civic initiatives.

Last year’s program touched 50% of the cities, towns and villages, 110 of which received funds and promotional support for needed community projects.
During the last city council meeting, the We Hear You America Campaign was officially presented. There, the council was charged with the task of determining where funding should go if Chillicothe was a recipient. Alderman Chris Boyer says “The city has not officially decided what will be done with the money, should we receive it. But, there are a few projects that I can think of that the money could be designated to: 2nd street sidewalk upgrade, Riverfront playground equipment, Riverfront gazebo, Police squad car or an upgrade Christmas decorations. Most of these (and others) will be in our next years fiscal budget and any money received could help expedite a project.”

The more votes each city acquires, the more funding received.
Top prize is $50,000. We Hear You America concludes on March the 1st.
