New Police Chief approved and sworn in

New-Police-Cief-003

The City of Chillicothe has a new chief of police after the Chillicothe City Council unanimously approved the mayor’s recommendation Monday night and the new top cop was sworn in before a capacity crowd.

Mayor Troy Childers commented that it had been a long time since the gallery had been so full for a city council meeting.
Indeed it was Monday night with conspicuous out-of-town dignitaries to show support and watch as Scott Mettille, the Deputy Chief of the Peoria Heights Police Department was on hand for the Chillicothe City Council meeting. The crowd did not have long to wait.
After the usual opening of the meeting, there was some small discussion about Three Sisters Park being de-annexed from the city, apparently presently in committee discussions, Mayor Childers then brought forward his appointment of a new police chief for the city to which he asked the council for their approval plus approval of a compensation package as presented. After his recommendation of Scott Mettille, the mayor noted that after much searching and to which the choice had come down to a tough appointment from about four applicants, the Council unanimously approved Mettille. The oath of office then took place with further ado, administered by cty clerk Sharon Crabel.
In other business, the council:
- approved software and hardware support maintenance agreement with Midwest Meter Inc., and Badger Meter.
- approved an expediture of $1,976.80, payable to Michael Todd for the purchase of 50 stop signs and 20 snow route signs.
- rejected the bids received for the sale of several Public Works vehicles due to only a few bids.
- approved an expenditure of $2,250 payable to Engbrecht Concrete for the repair of the landing and replacement of sidewalk at City Hall.
