Carol J. Sturgeon, 75, of Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 23, 2012, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL.
She was born January 3, 1937, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of George B. and Edwardene (Stoker) Stuart. She married Richard N. Sturgeon on August 26, 1956, in Chillicothe.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; two sons, Stephen (Brenda) Sturgeon of Magnolia, IL, and Stuart (Michelle) Sturgeon of El Paso, IL; five grandchildren; and one brother, George Stuart of Pekin, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carol had worked as an operator at Illinois Bell Telephone and later as a secretary at Mossville Grade School. She also worked at the Peoria Christian Center and then at Parkhill (now Heritage Manor) Nursing Home as the activities director.
She volunteered at St. Edward’s School and Chillicothe Bible Church.
She loved God, and delighted in serving her family and many friends.
The funeral service were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Pastor Phil Bachman officiated. Burial was in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Visitation was held two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home (8 a.m. to 10 a.m.). Memorials may be made to Rescue 33.
