Despite outscoring Stark County 13 to 4 in the third quarter, the IVC Lady Grey Ghosts came up just short in the first round regional game Monday night, putting an end to their injury plagued season.
“When you get three ACLs, a broken tail bone, two concussions, a tonsillectomy… We had three starters missing from that squad, but I couldn’t be more proud,” said head coach Paul Mercer. “They poured their hearts out into the game.”
Brooke Rudolph was the leading scorer 14 points, including six points in that big third quarter that put IVC back into the game.

IVC’s Lady Grey Ghosts had a sluggish start against a quick, aggressive, decisive St. Bede on Thursday night. As the first quarter ended at 10-16, the Lady Grey Ghosts looked like they still had a chance. Coach Paul Mercer made some changes in the lineup and re-positioned a couple of other players and IVC came out of the huddle at a faster-moving pace, determined to catch up and move ahead.
The Lady Ghosts struggled to hit their 3-pointers, while everything seemed to go in for St. Bede. Rebounds were hard to come by with St. Bede’s 5’10’’ forward, #24, Kayla McDavitt, grabbing most of them. St. Bede almost doubled their number of points that time around as the quarter ended IVC 17-St. Bede 31.
The Lady Ghosts never got that close again as St Bede scored in double digits each quarter. The final score was IVC 34-St Bede 54. IVC was simply outshot.
Jessica Thomas scored 13 points and Emma Hoerr had 9 rebounds to lead IVC Lady Grey Ghosts in Thursday nights endeavor. See other team data in STATS section.
