The Chillicothe Crush U-12 baseball team won the class AA U-12 state championship in Champaign from June 24-26. They defeated teams from Danville, Rock Island and Mahomet in pool play which earned them the #6 seed heading into the single elimination tournament. On Sunday they defeated the Champaign Tribe (9-1), the Springfield Wolfpack (5-3), the Lake County Bombers (10-7) and then beat the Edwardsville Tigers 19-16 to claim the championship. This qualifies the Crush for the USSSA class AA U-12 World Series in Kansas City from July 18-24.
The Crush have played 9 tournaments this year and have made it to the championship game in every one, winning tournaments in St. Louis, Dunlap, Chillicothe (Brad Wallin), Limestone, East Peoria and Champaign.
