Friday night the IVC high school football team made it’s debut against the Dunlap Eagles. Always a tough challenge, the Ghosts put up a valiant fight and appeared to possibly win.
The first quarter was fairly dominated by the Eagles and resulted in Mangieri running a short yardage TD for 6 points. The conversion failed and the Eagles led 6-0.
The second quarter the Grey Ghosts kicked up a notch and scored.
Jake Innis ran a 2 yd dive and scored with 2:39 left in the 1st half. The point after was good and the Ghosts took the lead 7-6. At halftime, the score remained in IVC’s favor.
Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter but early in the 4th, Dunlap scored again with 11:03 left in the 4th. Again the 2 point conversion failed but the Eagles were back on top 12-7. The Ghosts answered later with Jake Innis again taking into the end zone, putting the Ghosts again ahead 13-12.
But the Eagles were not to be denied and put together a 61 yard drive, culminated in scoring again with only 4:03 left in the game. Final score 18-13.
