Friday night our IVC Grey Ghosts has us driving almost 2 hours away to Kankakee to play the Kankakee Kays in an interesting game of football.
With IVC kicking off the Kays had the ball but Sherrar Tate quickly intercepted it bringing the ghosts to a first down on their own 45 yard line.
With each play we came close to the yard line but it wasn’t until Tommy Jenkins was able to get us to the 1 yard line that we were to get a touchdown.
The next play had Jake Innis running over the goal line for the Ghosts first touchdown bringing the score to 7-0 after the extra point.
With Kankakee having the ball to start off the 2nd quarter they fumbled it but we able to manage a touchdown bringing the score to 7-7 after the extra point was good. As we got the ball back we had a rough spot with false starts and a fumble but made up for it when the Kays fumbled the ball and we recovered it.
At the 25 yard line we tried for a field goal and accomplished it making the score 10-7.
Right before the half we had an interesting play with the ball being fumbled by IVC, recovered by the Kays, fumbled again by the Kays and recovered by IVC. There were penalties on this play but they offset each other. Leaving the score 10-7 IVC at the half.
In the 3rd quarter IVC received the ball and quickly had Jake Innis in the end zone for a touchdown, bringing the score to 17-7 after the extra point.
The Kays could not quite steady themselves in the 3rd quarter having two false starts and allowed Tommy Jenkins in for a touchdown. In the 4th quarter Kankakee was finally able to get past our defensive line and get a touchdown bringing the score to 31-15 after a two-point conversion.
The final score of the game was 31-15 IVC. Bringing our Grey Ghosts to a 2-1 record for the season.
