Richwoods defeats IVC, 49-28

Last Friday night was the Grey Ghosts conference opener against the Richwoods Knights at home.
IVC kicked off at the beginning of the game and showed a strong defense. Within the first 3 minutes of the game Richwoods had a penalty for being offsides, but the Knights quickly recovered those yards with Kendrick Foster running in for a touchdown bringing the score to 7-0 after kicking an extra point.
With the ball in IVC’s possession, senior Tommy Jenkins ran 35 yards for an IVC first down.
In the next play Jenkins had the ball again and scored a touchdown bringing the score to 7-7 after Jesse Hall kicked the extra point.
The Knights came back to score another touchdown showing IVC that they would not back down by bringing the score to 14-7.
With the Knights kicking off Coty Schneider got ahold of the ball and ran a total of 30 yards before being brought down at the 50 yard line.
Unfortuantely for the Grey Ghosts, Jesse Hall’s pass was intercepted letting the Knights score a touchdown bringing the score to 21-7.
Before Richwoods was able to get the ball again, senior Jake Innis ran a 41 yard touchdown to bring the score to 28-14 after the extra point. Before half time Richwoods was able to achieve one more touchdown bringing the score to 35-14 at the half.
At the beginning of the second half the Knights quickly ran in for a touchdown bringing the score up to 42-14.
IVC did not want to show that they were tired and Tommy Jenkins quickly ran in for a touchdown bringing the score up to 42-21.
IVC started to hold Richwoods well but Kendrick Foster found a hole in the line and ran a total of 64 yards for a Knights Touchdown bringing the score to 49-21 after the extra point.
In the last moments of the game Jesse Hall threw a pass to Nolan Seiler for a touchdown and Hall kicked the extra point bringing the final score to 49-28 in favor of Rrichwoods. IVC is at a 2 win, 2 loss season.
