IVC can’t tame Lions, 28-7

DSC_1014

Friday night was the last time IVC would be playing at home for a regular season game.
It was also senior night, so everyone was ready to get out onto the field and show that our seniors are the most powerful.
The Peoria Central Lions were the team to beat tonight, and they showed that they were a force to be reckoned with, having a 57-yard run and a touchdown within the first 5 minutes of the game.

Before IVC could find themselves in the goal, the Lions had the ball again. Before they knew it the Lions fumbled the ball and senior Jeremy Brown recovered it. The Ghosts weren’t able to hold onto the ball long though. They fumbled, and Peoria Central recovered it and ran a total of 45 yards for a Lions touchdown bringing the score to 14-0 after the extra point.
Again before the Ghosts could stop them, Peoria Central was once again in the end zone for another touchdown bringing the score to 21-0 in the second quarter.
As the quarter wound down, the Ghosts were able to push through the line and senior Jake Innis was able to run the 2 yards for an IVC touchdown bringing the score to 21-7. As the last minute counted down before the half, the Lions ran in for one more touchdown. The score at the half was 28-7.
It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that anything happened, with Connor Benson intercepting the ball and running a few yards before being brought down. Each team held their own during the last half of the game leaving the score at 28-7 by the end. The Grey Ghosts are at 3-5 record for the season.
