Zach inducted into IVC Hall of Fame

Friday night following the sophomore basketball game, Athletic Director Dennis O’Boyle and Baseball Coach Jerry Rashid inducted Zach McAllister (graduated Class of 2006) into the IVC Baseball Hall of Fame.
As a pitcher for IVC, Zach compiled a varsity record of 23 wins and 2 losses his junior and senior years. As a junior, in 2005, Zach posted an Earn Run Average of .74 with a batting average of 475. His ERA his senior year was 1.04 while batting .486. In 2006, Zach was named the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year, as well as being named First Team All-Conference, All State and the 2006 Journal Star Player of the Year.
Zach McAllister was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees.
Since then, Zach has been named:
Short season A-Ball All Star
Rookie ball Post Season All Star
Class A, Double A and Triple A All Star
McAllister made his Major League debut on July 7 of this year with the Cleveland Indians.
“Thank you so much for this honor…I have always appreciated all the support I have received from these people and this town.” When asked if he had any words of wisdom to impart to area athletes, Zach replied, “Work hard…Work hard…Sometimes good things can happen to you if you work hard.”
Zach is the son of Steve and Jeannine McAllister.
